Colder

Published by beth under Maine, On the Home Front

Hee. Jeffrey Zeldman posts the temps for NY. It’s cold!

We can do him one better, tho. It’s dayum cold here. After a start to the winter that made me wonder if I was actually living back in North Carolina, central Maine is now experiencing temperatures more in line with those I remember from my childhood. Thank goodness for the extra space heater in my office!

It's Cold!

New hosting, at last

Published by beth under wp & bloggy stuff

Finally, after manymany months of our old colo box being offline, I’ve ported the old muddle/amphigouri to the hosting service that handles our other web-related stuff. Good timing, as the newest version of WP came out on Monday. :) Having a few headaches with the “pretty” permalinks at the moment (I don’t quite get why most of them work ‘cept the most recent 2. How odd.), and I’m not satisfied with any of the themes I’ve downloaded. With this site being so dormant for so long, I don’t expect anyone will complain if I do my testing and tweaking “live,” when I get the time and motivation to do so.

Whee!

DDR for fines

The Shifted Librarian writes of a librarian who uses DDR as a means for settling fines as well as disputes between teenagers:

For example, if a teen has overdue books, she will dance-off against the person, and if the teen wins, the librarian will waive the fines.

How cool. We got one of the DDR games & mats at home this Christmas; kudos to the librarian for keeping up with this (I’ve got a looooong way to go before I’m ever able to pit DDR skillz against /anyone/, let alone a teen!).
