Well, I'm far from one to say follow the 'rules' all the time, just making an observation on this particular picture and ROT was a good shorthand. I think I'm pretty partial to it, anyway. My two most recent favorite pics (here) employ it, for example. It was not conscious -- I took a lot of pics those days, many of which were crap.

I'm having focus troubles with my camera, too -- I can't figure out whether it's my ignorance or the camera. Probably the former... need time to practice... don't have time... waah.

Yeah. I wasn't really concerned w/ the rule of thirds when taking this pic; I was trying to get the bloody camera to focus the way I wanted it to on that one middle shaving (I'm still having some difficulty getting the camera to do what I want - seems like it was easier back when I first had it, prior to it needing fixes).

And, rule of thirds be damned - there are some pictures (some mine, some random others) that don't follow the rules explicitly but still capture my interest or just appeal to me for no real reason. :) This picture is one of those, I guess - there's something about it that I like, and that's all that really matters to me. ;)

Hmmm. Neat picture. The only thing I might have done differently is make a little bit more off-center (rule of thirds). :)
