shavings.

Have been feeling the need to post here, as it’s been so long… but am too brain dead to produce anything even remotely resembling intelligent thought. Will leave it at this, the pic below, until later this week.

Hmmm. Neat picture. The only thing I might have done differently is make a little bit more off-center (rule of thirds). :)

Yeah. I wasn’t really concerned w/ the rule of thirds when taking this pic; I was trying to get the bloody camera to focus the way I wanted it to on that one middle shaving (I’m still having some difficulty getting the camera to do what I want - seems like it was easier back when I first had it, prior to it needing fixes).

And, rule of thirds be damned - there are some pictures (some mine, some random others) that don’t follow the rules explicitly but still capture my interest or just appeal to me for no real reason. :) This picture is one of those, I guess - there’s something about it that I like, and that’s all that really matters to me. ;)

Well, I’m far from one to say follow the ‘rules’ all the time, just making an observation on this particular picture and ROT was a good shorthand. I think I’m pretty partial to it, anyway. My two most recent favorite pics (here) employ it, for example. It was not conscious — I took a lot of pics those days, many of which were crap.

I’m having focus troubles with my camera, too — I can’t figure out whether it’s my ignorance or the camera. Probably the former… need time to practice… don’t have time… waah.
