Still lacking inspiration.

I blame the weather for my lack of posting. Husband says this latest storm to hit New England only dumped 6″ or so at our house; I think it was probably closer to 12-18″ (20″ just 20 minutes from us, according to the local weather). Storms like that make me want to stay home curled up under my wool blankets with a good book or three, spending the days napping and reading. Alas. At least I was able to manage the “stay home” part, thank you, job-I-can-do-nearly-anywhere-that-has-a-network-connection. I left the office around 11:30am on Monday, shortly after Husband sent me a message that he’d already managed to get his truck stuck in our driveway. Yesterday was also a work-from-home day. Wish I could do that on a regular basis, as there’s really nothing like being able to putter around doing workstuffs while still in one’s flannel PJs.

Other news of note:

I filed my second and final online grad school application last week. Yay! I have also been trying to find out why one of the schools has been telling me since Feb. 5 that my GRE scores aren’t there, when the GRE people sent them out on the 31st of last month. I can understand a backlog of data entry at the school, but an effort was made to see if the scores had been received and just not logged yet…with negative results. GRR. After trying all this week to verify once more that the scores haven’t arrived prior to complaining again to ETS, I finally discovered today that the woman I had been working with is no longer with that department(!!) Hopefully these new folks will be able to tell me if everything is in order, as the semester starts at the end of March, and my application can’t be evaluated until they receive the bloomin’ scores.

Next month Husband starts his online Intro to Philosophy course, which will give him the final two credits he needs to get his diploma. Yay, Husband! We’re pretty psyched about this, as we (ok, I) had been worried that the credits wouldn’t transfer to UMD, or that he’d have to spend a semester (or longer) there at the UMD campus. While we know our relationship can weather the long distance (our first year+ of dating was done with 5-6 hours between us), neither one of us were really keen on the idea of doing it again. So - not only does he not have to spend an extended period of time in MD to finish up, he can take a local course FROM HOME. Ain’t technology grand? We should plan a graduation party for this spring.

On February 7, Brother J and his girlfriend got engaged. Woo! Am looking forward to sitting back and watching someone *else* go through all the wedding planning stuffs. :) Bubba, if you’re reading - remind me to give you some of the books we have.

Weirdness with HugelyFatAndNeurotic cat of late. She’s had problems with the other cats in our household since day one, and generally spends her time sitting on a pillow under the kitchen table, or rolling about *on* the table (can’t teach these older cats any manners!). The last couple of weeks have found her being very brave, jumping onto the couch when we’re there and sitting a while with us. Twice last week she shocked me by actually jumping onto the bed and sleeping with me for a few hours at night (in the past if she even made it to the bedroom it was to dive under the bed). She doesn’t appear to be sick in any way, so we’re assuming she’s just fed up with the fact that the other cats get more attention than she does.

Here she is, acting bashful:
